June Project: a long-life identity system designed to reduce waste and build recognition year after year.
June Project is a city-wide outreach week - and the challenge was simple: create an identity people could keep using, not replace every year.
The old system baked the year into the logo and shifted colours annually, which meant clothing and materials quickly felt outdated. I redesigned the identity with longevity in mind: a timeless core mark that stays consistent year-to-year, with flexible supporting elements that can adapt without creating waste.
The new icon combines a bold JP monogram with an abstract Durham skyline - designed to be clear on photos, work in one colour for print, and sit confidently on clothing. The circular form keeps it strong for social use and creates a recognisable badge that holds up at small sizes.
The result is a practical, durable brand system used across apparel, digital comms, and live events - and it’s still in use today, with volunteers re-wearing clothing across multiple years.
